For those of us who still dream of the tactile click of a physical keyboard, 2026 has been a year of genuine anticipation. Since its debut at CES in January, the Clicks Communicator has moved from a promising concept to a tangible reality, aiming to bridge the gap between modern Android utility and the focused, productive ethos of the classic BlackBerry era.
A Device Built for Input, Not Just Output
The Clicks Communicator is not trying to compete with the massive, glass-slab flagships that dominate our pockets. Instead, it positions itself as a dedicated communication companion. Designed by industry veterans, including input from iconic designer Joseph Hofer, the device is built around a 4-inch OLED display and a physical, touch-sensitive QWERTY keyboard. The philosophy here is clear: move away from the endless, passive doomscrolling of modern smartphones and toward a device that prioritizes intentional, active input.
The Clicks Communicator is built for typing, not for doomscrolling. It is designed to help users reclaim their attention in a world of constant digital noise.
The hardware specs are surprisingly robust for a niche device. With a 50MP main camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 4,000 mAh battery, it offers the essentials without the bloat. Recent updates from the company have even confirmed performance boosts, including increased RAM and battery capacity, ensuring that the device remains snappy for email, messaging, and note-taking tasks.
Refining the Experience
As we approach the December shipping window, Clicks has been busy finalizing the user experience. The device features a unique 'Signal Light' system, allowing users to filter notifications and ignore the phone unless a critical alert arrives. Furthermore, the company has partnered with dbrand to offer protective solutions like the MNML case, ensuring that this tool for productivity is as durable as it is functional. Whether you choose the QWERTY or QWERTZ layout, the focus remains on providing a premium, satisfying typing experience that modern touchscreens simply cannot replicate.
